The 50-state plumbing license dataset

Every verdict on this site is computed from this one dataset — so the checkers, the state pages and the pair tables can never disagree with each other. Each state's record carries its board, its sources and its check date.

How it is built and kept honest

Primary sources only. A figure enters the dataset from the licensing board's own pages, the statute or rule the board administers, or the exam vendor the board contracts with. Blogs, lead-generation sites and AI summaries are never sources.

“Not published” is a value. When a board does not publish a fee on a readable page, the dataset prints “Not published” rather than borrowing a number from a course seller. States whose records could not be fully confirmed are marked checked in part, on their pages and here, with a note saying what could not be confirmed.

Conflicts are printed, not hidden. When a board's pages and its statute disagree, the state page shows both and says which one the checker uses.

Maintenance. The dataset is re-swept quarterly — exam vendors and fee schedules move most. A cell that cannot be re-verified does not stay live dressed as current; it is unpublished back to “Not published.”

Dataset checked October 22, 2026. This page is information about licensing rules, not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for the board's own answer.
